About Jewett Farms & Company

Our Shop

During the 1990s founding partners Mike Myers and Matthew Lord discovered that they shared a vision for a cabinet making business that would combine the very best elements of an old-fashioned, two-man workshop with all the services that an excellent kitchen design studio could offer. Ultimately their vision materialized into Jewett Farms & Co.; a full service cabinet shop paired with our small showroom, located in the historic coastal town of York, Maine.

Our shop is staffed by some of the area’s most talented craftsmen and women who share Matt and Mike’s attention to quality and detail. Every project is assigned to a team of craftsmen who handle every element of the cabinetry—from the moment the rough-cut lumber arrives, to the moment the finished cabinets are carefully bundled into the truck.

We craft every component of our cabinetry using traditional construction methods for lasting durability. Cabinets are constructed with a combination of solid wood and the highest quality veneer core plywood. Drawer boxes are made from solid maple and assembled with a traditional New England box joint at all four corners. Every length of molding is milled out of the same solid stock that’s used for cabinetry. Even curved cabinetry elements are bent and formed in our shop, using a variety of techniques.

Every day brings a different phase of construction on various projects. One day a cabinetmaker’s bench is nearly hidden by a mounting stack of drawers of all shapes and sizes, waiting to be sanded; the next day several worktables are covered in a forest of newly assembled doors, pipe clamps firmly in place. Before long the finish room is transformed into a maze of freshly finished cabinetry, and we prepare to carefully bundle up each cabinet for delivery. We’re exceptionally proud of what we do, and honored to be a part of creating the spaces where memories are made every day.
