About Jewett Farms & Company
The Principals
Matthew Lord started it all, by turning to cabinetmaking after college, rather than pounding the sidewalks with the rest of his graduating class. Jewett Farms & Co. began soon after as a one-man show, with various cabinet and finish carpentry jobs in the Portsmouth area. One client in particular proved to be exceptionally lucrative; in 1998 Mike Myers hired Jewett Farms to add some cabinets to his existing kitchen, and the rest is history. Mike became a full partner in the company in 1999 and together Matt and Mike guided their fledgling cabinet company through several shop expansions to accommodate the pleasantly unexpected demand.
In 2008 the company expanded again, with the opening of a satellite showroom location in Newburyport, Massachusetts. Up to their old tricks, they brought in former client Elena Ruocco Bachrach to head up the new Jewett Farms Studio. Elena’s prior work in arts administration fits right in with the needs of the Studio, and her passion for handcrafted art finds no better home than with Jewett Farms & Co.
